Begining Texas Hold'em 101
Most beginners in Texas Hold'em are often inexperienced when it comes to what cards to play and what cards to fold.
When given your two initial cards, you have the option of calling the blinds or folding, unless someone else raised. If these two cards are very good, you probably want to call the blind, or even raise it. Here are some excellent pocket cards to start with.
1. High Pocket Pair (2 Aces, 2 K's, 2 Q's, etc.)
2. High Cards in general(A-K a.k.a. "Big Slick, K-J)
3. Suited Connectors (J-10 of spades, K-Q of clubs)
These starting cards will give you the best probability of winning the hand and they are typically the ones you want to play. The problem, of course, is that you are not going to get these starting
cards every time!
Sometimes you get mediocre cards. These cards are definitely playable but it depends on how much money you have and you how much you are willing to risk.
After the excellent and mediocre hands, there are the unfavorable hands. These hands are the ones you probably will want to fold. Some typical unfavorable hands would include 4-7 , 9-3, and the worst possible starting hand u can get which is 2-7 off suit.
So when playing you're next game of Texas Hold'em, think about what you have before you call. The best chances of winning the hand are when you have great pocket cards.
